At Island Divers, you can start your adventure with the PADI Open Water Diver Course….Today! There are no minimum group numbers to worry about and we always have a wide selection of PADI materials available such as a Manual, DVD, Online or even the latest “Touch” interactive downloadable programme to suit your style of learning!
The course introduces theory and skills in a way that you can develop Mastery at all levels and at a pace that suits you. You’ll be training in the latest equipment and there are no hidden costs*! Our fun and professional dive team will be there every step of the way to help you achieve your diving goal!
What’s involved in the course?
The PADI Open Water Diver course can be completed in as little as 4 days, a few months or even just complete the pool and theory section with Island Divers and you can complete your Open Water Dives on an overseas holiday (Open Water Referral Course)!

- All equipment hire is included in course price
- 5 x Swimming Pool training sessions
- 5 x Classroom theory sessions
- 4 x Open water training dives (Sea or inshore dive sites)
- Certification Card upon successful completion
- Lots of fun and laughs along the way!
Note: Sometimes the conditions may not be conducive to diving around the Island but fear not! We use inland dive sites on the Mainland (Vobster Quay and Andark Lake) which do incur additional travel and an entry fee that is not included in the course – Usually around £16 per person + travel costs
The PADI Open Water Diver Course is available to anyone over the age of 10 years old, even juniors can gain this certification but will be limited to dive up to 12 meters until they are 15 years old. Anyone can take part in the PADI Open Water Diver course but you must be in good health and able to swim up to 200 meters.
You will need to complete a self disclosed medical declaration.

What do I need to start?
Before your course starts you will be provided with the PADI Open Water Diver Course materials. You will need to read this and complete the knowledge reviews and quick quizzes. Once you have finished we will invite you into the dive centre to review the knowledge development sections with your instructor. We will also give you the final exam to complete on this day.
What will I do?
Next step is to join your instructor in the pool for 5 confined water dives. These can usually be completed in 3 x 2 hour pool sessions. You will learn all of the skills to enable you to start diving in the open water with an instructor on your holiday!
Whilst on holiday you will need to complete the 4 open water dives with an instructor in order to gain your PADI Open Water Diver Course certification. This will allow you to dive anywhere in the world, with a buddy, up to 18m!
