Alison Langridge #1

So, confession time - I am not a diver. I have never been diving - and never will. Can't see what all the fuss is about, really - give me  a book and a sunlounger somewhere hot and sunny and people to watch - my idea of heaven. Having said that, I am sometimes to be found in charge of the Dive Shop when everyone else is off getting wet. You'll know it's me by the slightly terrified look on my face when you walk in the shop and start to talk diving at me. I'll happily make you a cup of coffee but after that, it's all downhill, I'm afraid.

My contribution, such as it is, to Island Divers is as shore support (when it's sunny, of course) and am EFR trained should the need arise (and I'm not too busy sunbathing). I am also extremely talented at BBQ'ing sausages to within an inch of their life and can be seen, through clouds of smoke, on our weekly summer BBQ evenings, dishing out the salmonella burgers, cheese and ketchup optional.

As an ex-headteacher, I enjoy our annual Pub Quiz events in my role as Quiz Mistress extraordinaire, where I get to relive my days as "Scary Miss" and ask all sorts of weird and wonderful questions.

My real passion is gardening though - if you need a border weeded or a garden re-designed, I'm your girl. In fact, if you come into the shop and start talking plants to me instead of diving, I'll even give you a biscuit to go with your coffee!
